。 ーーーーーーーーーーー Buk ees cheeks, shining fuscous. Antennae ferruginous the antennal w as the rst and 2nd joints shining black, the arista testaceous, at tip fuscous, the plumose hairs black. Thorax with testaceous hiirs, especially those of the pleurae and scutellum being longer and denser, the latter on the hind margin being testaceous. Wings hyaline, somewhat infuscated, in the middle at costa with a large fuscous patch ; veins the at the basal half testaceous, at the apical half, except the Ist vein, fuscous. Halteres pale yellow. Abdomen oblong, black pubescented, the rst and 2nd segments testaceous with the concolorous hairs, hind margin and 4 middle spot of the 2nd segment being black, each hind margin of the 2nd and of 3rd segments narrowly ferruginous, with some pale yellowish hairs, Ventral side at the basal half testaceous, at the apical half fuscous’ only the hind margin of each segment being narrowly testaceous. Legs fuscous, apices of femora, both ends of tibiae, bases of hnd femora, as well as the middle tarsi, ferruginous. Length—@ 2 13.5—16.5 mm, ; exp. 27—30 mm. Hab.—Hokkaido (Sipporo), Honshu (Tokyo); 2(@ 2) specimens from Jozankei near Sapporo collected by the author and one female specimen from Tokyo, collected by Mr. S.

sp. (Pl. XVI, Fig. 20, 2). § Dark brown, Face on sides, a longitudinal stripe on each side of thorax, a pleural spot, the knobs of halteres and markings of abdomen, citron yellow. Vertex, occiput and a broad middle stripe of face, fuscous. Antennae ferruginous, the rst joint being fuscous ; the arista yellow, at base and at the apical half fuscous。 Thorax with very short tawny hairs. Scutellum ferruginous. Wings hyaline, at the costal half fuscous and opaque, along the veins being somewhat deeper in color, veins fuscous. HHalteres ferruginous. Abdomen narrower towards the base, club-shaped, the 2nd segment on each side with an oblong spot, which being placed oblipuely, the 3rd, 4th and 5th segments each at the anterior marginn and the 4th at the posterior margin, the latter triangularly produced in the middle, with a yellowish cross-band ; the 1st ventral segment at the posterior margin, the 2nd and 3rd on both margins and the 4th and 5th each at the anterior margin, yellow. Legs ferruginous, coxae, trochanter and bases of femora (middle and posterior femora near bases each witha fuscous spot), fuscous, bases of tibiae being pale yellowish. Length—16.5 mm.; exp. 33 mm. Very near to Baccha F., but differs from the latter as follows. A large wasp-like robust species, but not so narrow as that of Baccha. Vertex broad, nearly half as wide as the midddle of face. Anterior cross-vein oblique, supernumeraly vein between the 3rd and 4th veins only distinct untill the posterior crossvein, while that of Baccha iuns to base of the 2nd vein, the 2nd abdominal segment broader than the scutellum, nearly twice as long as the width, the 3rd segment at the hind margin somewhat broader than long. sp. (PJ. VXI, Fig. 24, 2). Ferruginous. Antennae with the arista concolorous with the body ; face below eyes on each side with a brownish stripe; ocellar region brown, with short tawny hairs. Thorax in some specimens with a brownish central stripe, on sides and at the hind margin, as well as on sides of scutellum with some black macrochaetae ; humerus with a silky pale yellowish spot. Wings at the costal half fuscous, subhyaline, costal and the second cell being yellowish, posterior half hyaline, veins yellow, which in the fuscous region being fuscous, discal cell hyaline, the inner margin of which being lined with fuscous. Halteres yellow, the knobs each with a brownish spot.
